Call of Duty: Every year, when a new Call of Duty game is released, it creates a huge buzz in the gaming world. This year, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is also expected to arrive with the same excitement. But if we go back in time, exactly 14 years ago, on November 8, 2011, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was launched a game that not only changed the direction of the entire series but also stirred the emotions of many gamers.

Perhaps it wasn’t the best Call of Duty game ever, but at that time, it marked a turning point where the series was at its peak. Modern Warfare 3 made history in the video game industry at that time, but for many players like me, it was the game that diminished our love for Call of Duty.

Modern Warfare 3 The End of an Era or a New Beginning

When the trailer for Modern Warfare 3 was released in 2011, I recall that it was the buzz of the town. Its objectives, graphics, and plot thrilled players all across the world. It became a moment in that era’s culture. However, the anticipation eventually waned after the game’s release.

It seems as though Call of Duty was stuck in its own formula with Modern Warfare 3. The same missions too much action, but not enough feeling. The story’s depth and soul, which were evident in previous games like World at War and Modern Warfare 2, were vanished.

Yes, the game was big, cinematic, and every mission felt like a Hollywood movie, but it lacked the “heart” it once had. From that year onwards, for me, Call of Duty was no longer just a game, but a franchise one that offered the same thing in a new box every year.

Modern Warfare 3 from a 14-Year Perspective

Looking back, I have a respectful opinion of Modern Warfare 3. It may have made me less interested in the series, but it also reinforced Call of Duty’s place in the video game industry. This game demonstrated how a franchise may peak before gradually losing its individuality. additional Call of Duty games with improved visuals, additional game modes, and online features continued to be released in the years that followed, but the original spirit was abandoned.

Call of Duty was never the same after Modern Warfare 3. Gradually, the tension, the bond, and the storytelling magic vanished. The technical aspects of the game were undoubtedly improved, but the emotional connection was lost.

The Present and Memories of the Past

My love for 'Call of Duty' ended 14 years ago; it was the story of Modern Warfare 3 that changed everything.

Now that Black Ops 7 is approaching, those old memories flood back. The times we spent playing Modern Warfare 3 late at night with friends, laughing, yelling, and giving it our all to complete the objectives.

Even while modern games are more feature-rich, the “soul” of the earlier Call of Duty games remains distinct. This shift was symbolized by Modern Warfare 3, a game that was authoring history rather than merely being a game.

Modern Warfare 3 distanced me somewhat from Call of Duty, but it also taught me that every great series eventually has to reinvent itself. Today, 14 years later, looking back at this game, one thing is clear whether criticized or loved, this game left a profound impact on an entire generation of gamers.
