PM Kisan: Good news is on the horizon for farmers across the country. The wait for the 21st installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM Kisan Samman Nidhi) scheme is almost over. Since the 20th installment was released in August, farmers across the country have been eagerly awaiting the next installment. What is the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme was launched in the 2019 interim budget by then Finance Minister Piyush Goyal. It was subsequently implemented nationwide by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Today, this scheme has become one of the world’s largest Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) schemes.
Under this scheme, the government provides financial assistance of ₹2,000 every four months to eligible farmers across the country. This means that farmers receive a total of ₹6,000 annually in three installments. This entire amount is transferred directly to the farmers’ bank accounts to eliminate the need for intermediaries or complicated procedures.
The objective of this scheme is to empower farmers financially so that they can meet their agricultural needs, such as purchasing seeds, fertilizers, or equipment.
When will the 21st installment of PM Kisan be released
According to media reports, the 21st installment of the PM Kisan scheme may be released in the first week of November. Although the government has not yet announced an official date, it is expected that the amount will reach the farmers’ accounts before Diwali.
Interestingly, this installment has already been released for farmers affected by floods and landslides in Jammu and Kashmir. On October 7, 2025, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, released this amount in advance through video conferencing. During this period, approximately ₹171 crore was directly transferred to the bank accounts of 8.55 lakh farmers, including more than 85,000 women farmers. So far, farmers in Jammu and Kashmir have received ₹4,052 crore in assistance under this scheme.
Which farmers are eligible
This scheme benefits only those farmers who meet the eligibility criteria set by the government. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to small and marginal farmers. Farmers who own agricultural land and cultivate it themselves can avail the benefits of this scheme.
However, farmers who are in government service, are taxpayers, or receive a pension from any institution are not considered eligible for this scheme.
How to check PM Kisan status online
If you want to know whether your 21st installment has been credited to your account, you can check the status from the comfort of your home by visiting the official PM Kisan website (https://pmkisan.gov.in).
There, you will have to go to the “Beneficiary Status” section and enter your Aadhaar number or mobile number. After that, you will get complete information about whether your installment has been transferred or is still in process.
